ನರಕ ತಪ್ಪಿತು ಧರ್ಮಜಂಗೆ, ದಿಟ, ಆದೊಡೇಂ? |
ನರಕದರ್ಶನದುಃಖ ತಪ್ಪದಾಯಿತಲ? ||
ದುರಿತತರುವಾರು ನೆಟ್ಟುದೊ, ನಿನಗಮುಂಟು ಫಲ |
ಚಿರಋಣದ ಲೆಕ್ಕವದು - ಮಂಕುತಿಮ್ಮ ||

naraka tappitu dharmajange, diTa, aadoDEm? |
narakadarShanadhuKa tappadaayitala? ||
duritataruvaaru neTTudo, ninagamunTu phala |
ciraruNada lekkavadu - mankutimma ||

The son of Dharma was spared hell, true, so what?
Could he escape the sorrow of the sight of hell?
Whoever plants the seed of sin, thou too have a fruit.
That is the law of eternal debt - Mankutimma.
