With Mara under control, what fear from Gowri?
To her elegance and cooperation did Shiva yield.
If beyond infatuation, what scares thou of family?
It is thy confidant on the path - Mankutimma.

Translator's note: Mara (Kamadeva) is the personification of desire. Shiva is the personification of the cycle of creation and destruction, who agrees to marry Gowri after her relentless pursuit of the austerities. All characters from Hindu mythology.
Mara is also an important character in the Buddhist tradition, where he along with his daughters - Passion, Pleasure and Desire try every means of seduction to tempt Buddha out of his pursuit for enlightenment.
